Finalizing the completion of Long Thanh airport in September 2025

The Ministry of Transport urges units to deploy the Long Thanh airport project to operate the first flight on September 2, 2025.

After a meeting to review the progress of Long Thanh airport phase 1 last week, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan assessed that the investor has actively implemented, but procedures such as land delivery and delivery, investment preparation, etc. opinions on the static elevation, agreement on connection with neighboring works, preparation of the total site profile that is not satisfactory compared to the registered schedule.

In the component project 1 (state management agency headquarters), in addition to the headquarters of the Southern Airport Authority, capital and investment policies have been approved according to the plan and progress of other works unchanged because the managing unit has not allocated capital.

Deputy Minister Tuan requested the units to closely coordinate and actively connect with the investor, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam in the project land delivery and delivery.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is assigned to be the focal point to chair meetings with the units to agree on the scale and detailed planning; periodically update project progress before the 5th of every month to the Ministry of Transport.

The Ministry of Transport also directed ACV to complete the project of component 3 (essential works in the airport) to ensure the operation of the first flight on September 2, 2025.

The Long Thanh airport project is located in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, phase one has a total investment of 4.6 billion USD, including a runway, passenger terminal and auxiliary items synchronous with the airport capacity of 25 million passengers per year.

The project is divided into 4 components. Component 1 project - State management agency headquarters works assigned to Customs, Public Security, Border Gate Police, Port Authority, and Health Quarantine to arrange capital for implementation.

Component 2 project of works in service of flight management is assigned to Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation as the investor.

Component 3 project is essential works in the port, including passenger terminal, cargo terminal No. 1, garage, and traffic connections invested by ACV.

Component 4 project includes other works such as aircraft cleaning treatment area, vehicle maintenance, and meal provision selected by the Ministry of Transport.
