According to Mr. Hoang Tung, Chairman of Thu Duc City People's Committee, the locality has asked SHTP Labs to support the People's Committee of Thu Duc City in the installation of water level measuring stations in some locations in the city ...  Previously, Thu Duc City People's Committee had a working session with the World Bank (WB); The two sides agreed on “Adding Thu Duc City to participate in the testing and building of an online flood reporting platform and decision support (collectively known as the foundation) with Nha Be District and District 12”. To participate in the process of testing and building the above platform, the World Bank asked Thu Duc City to deploy the provision of astronomical data from the sensor system (rain gauge station, tide gauge station, camera image ... ) for integration into the platform.

Meanwhile, SHTP Labs and the Southern Hydrometeorology Station are also implementing scientific and technological tasks related to flood monitoring equipment and systems, including the task of "Research, design, and creating and installing flood monitoring equipment at frequent heavy flooding sites ”.  Specifically, the urban flood monitoring equipment is a scientific research product of Ho Chi Minh City, researched and produced by SHTP Labs to serve the monitoring and monitoring of rainwater levels and storm surge in urban areas in Ho Chi Minh City.

The topic is formed from the order document of the City Flood Program Operating Center No. 2021 / TTCN-QLTN, signed on August 24, 2018 on the order to implement the topic "Research, design, fabrication and installation of flood monitoring equipment at frequently flooded heavy sites in creative cities connecting with smart urban technology in Ho Chi Minh City ”. Mr. Ngo Vo Ke Thanh, Director of SHTP Labs, said that the product is cheaper than the equipment purchased from abroad. When there is flooding due to high tide or rain, the system automatically measures the water level and transmits the data to the server. After analyzing the data received at the floodplains, the data management software will provide flood warning information and travel routes for residents on mobile devices.

Mastering MEMS technology in research and manufacturing

Before Thu Duc City was established, this urban flood monitoring device was piloted in 4 locations: No. 531 Do Xuan Hop Street (Phuoc Long B Ward, District 9), No. 37 Duong Van Street. Cam (Linh Tay ward, Thu Duc district), 40B Quoc Huong street (Thao Dien ward, district 2) and Thu Dau Mot hydrological station (Phu Tho ward, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province) ...Through the pilot process, the test has passed the technical tests, so the applicability is highly appreciated.

According to Mr. Ngo Vo Ke Thanh, SHTP Labs is also an R&D center with a full range of equipment to complete a MEMS component manufacturing process (core technology), including: MEMS design and simulation, MASK design. MASK fabrication, synchronous processes from dry corrosion (DRIE), photolithography, CVD ... with pilot scale on 4 or 6 inch wafer. Up to this point, SHTP Labs has been ready to deploy MEMS products and systems for the market such as: pressure sensors combining water level measuring systems, gas sensors and monitoring systems air. This shows that, SHTP Labs has mastered the technology and process of designing and manufacturing environmental monitoring equipment according to hydro-meteorological standards.
Specifically, sensors measure temperature, humidity, water level; select the right technology and water level measurement solution suitable to the socio-economic conditions of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the country in general; Applying MEMS technology from domestic scientific research results (in particular, the pressure sensor PS50 of SHTP Labs) into the flood monitoring device to serve the management and operation of the city's flooding programs.

“With the suggestion of the leaders of Thu Duc City, we immediately began to prepare and select the date of March 23, also the day of the World Meteorological Organization, to officially deploy monitoring equipment. urban inundation in Thu Duc city. Thu Duc city has asked SHTP Labs to install 80 sensor stations, however, we recommend installing 40 stations in advance to evaluate the efficiency and deploy more widely, to bring good results. as possible ”, added Mr. Ngo Vo Ke Thanh.
