Ho Chi Minh City is testing the entire Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line for the first time
Metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will be tested for the first time with the length of 19.7 km. The trial run is expected to take place on August 31.
According to information from the Management Board of Urban Railways of Ho Chi Minh City (MAUR), contractor Hitachi (Japan) proposed to test run throughout metro line 1 from Suoi Tien station to Ben Thanh station and vice versa.

At the proposal of contractor Hitachi, the test run is expected to take place on August 31. This is the first time metro line No. 1 has been tested for the entire route after testing some sections in Thu Duc City.
To ensure safety during the trial run, the number of passengers on board will be limited to a maximum of 20 people. Train passengers must wear suitable shoes in case it is necessary to evacuate from the train.
Currently, the first station of the line, Ben Thanh station, has basically been completed and is ready for trial run. From now until the end of the year, contractors will coordinate to complete the electromechanical part, as well as a small part of the remaining architectural and interior items of the station.
According to the plan of the Urban Railway Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City, metro line No. 1 will be completed by the end of 2023 and commercially operated in early 2024.
Metro project No. 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien has a total length of 19.7 km, including 2.6 km underground and 17.1 km overhead.
The starting point of the route starts at Ben Thanh market, the end point is Suoi Tien station (near the new Eastern bus station).
The project has a total adjusted investment capital of 43,700 billion VND, invested by Japanese ODA loans and State budget capital.
