On September 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee to review the epidemic prevention and control work in the past week, and at the same time brought together the solutions and key tasks in the coming time.
According to the report of the Steering Committee, the rate of new cases of COVID-19 in the community this week has decreased compared to the previous week in some localities with high number of cases: Da Nang (down 60%), Binh Duong (down 27%) ), Long An (down 3%). In particular, the average number of daily deaths nationwide decreased by 30%, of which Ho Chi Minh City (50%), Long An (down 30%), Tien Giang (down 70%).
The results of the implementation of the disease control criteria show that, group 1 has 8/23 provinces that are implementing good disease control: Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long, Phu Yen, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Moon, Ca Mau. Group 2 has 12 localities that are continuing the roadmap to meet the epidemic control criteria: Can Tho, Long An, Tien Giang, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Hanoi, Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, An Giang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau. For group 3, including: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Kien Giang, it is necessary to continue to make efforts and implement drastic measures to prevent and control the epidemic to be able to fulfill the epidemic control criteria.
About the epidemic situation in the city. According to the Steering Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, in the past week, there has been a marked decrease in two criteria: the number of infections in the community and the number of deaths. The districts that have controlled the epidemic are District 7, Cu Chi and Can Gio. It is expected to reduce both the number of infections and the number of deaths in the near future. In Hanoi, there will be some cases and clusters scattered in the community, there will still be infections with unknown sources of transmission. Therefore, it is necessary to speed up testing to detect infections in the community early. Localities that have implemented basic testing to meet the required progress such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Nai, the red areas have been scanned for the 3rd time and the infection rate has passed 3 rounds. testing was significantly reduced. Particularly in District 7, Cu Chi and Can Gio in Ho Chi Minh City, almost no new cases were detected after 5 rounds of testing.
Perfecting the anti-epidemic strategy in the new situation
According to the Steering Committee, the testing of the entire population on a large scale has removed the infected cases from the community and at the same time detected the source of infection early to isolate, localize and extinguish the epidemic in a timely manner; not to continue to spread in the community; avoid the prolonged distance on a large scale, affecting people's lives. Regarding vaccines, the Steering Committee said that the expected number of vaccines in 2021 is about 138.4 million doses. City. HCM has injected 7.4 million doses (reaching 100%); Binh Duong has injected 1.5 million doses (82%); Dong Nai has injected 1.3 million doses (reaching 60%); Long An injected 1.5 million doses (100%); Hanoi has injected 4.4 million doses (reaching 77%). Particularly, the number of 2 injections has been given in Ho Chi Minh City. HCM is 896,835 doses (13%) and Hanoi is 555,481 doses (10%).
It is expected that from now to the end of 2021, about 103.4 million doses of vaccine will be returned to Vietnam, of which about 22.8 million doses will be returned by the end of September, about 31.2 million doses will be returned in October, and about 31.2 million doses will be returned in November. 23.9 million doses, about 25.5 million doses in December. Regarding tasks in the coming time, the Steering Committee asked the Ministry of Health to complete the overall strategy on epidemic prevention and control in the new situation, focusing on vaccines, testing and treatment. Focus on improving system capacity to respond, return to the new normal by 2022.
The Committee also noted that localities when promulgating according to their competence regulations on epidemic prevention and control, especially on people's movement, traffic, and goods circulation, should carefully consider how to do this. the time of implementation, impact assessment, communication preparation, etc. must ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and conform to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control in the locality.
