Ho Chi Minh City will build 9 overpasses on Hanoi Highway and build parking lots for motorbikes near 9 elevated stations to facilitate people to go to Metro Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien.
The information was given by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hien, Deputy of the Management Board of HCMC Urban Railways (MAUR) at a press conference on socio-economic in the area, on the afternoon of December 22.
According to Mr. Hien, Metro No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will come into commercial operation by the end of 2023. In order to exploit effectively, the city has a project to build 9 pedestrian bridges across Hanoi highway to connect connected to 9 elevated stations. The flyovers will be completed at the same time Metro No. 1 operates.

Nearly 9 elevated stations (except for the new Eastern Bus Station and Deport Long Binh) are also arranged with parking lots (about 1,500 m2 each) enough to accommodate 500 motorbikes. Particularly, three underground stations in the inner city will not have parking, but priority will be given to access by road and bus to limit personal vehicles. Instead, parking is arranged in the surrounding buildings.
Along with that, the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City also plans to strengthen bus connections along the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro line. Bus shelters will be built near stations and routed bus routes to best facilitate people's access.

According to MAUR leaders, yesterday, Metro Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien has tested half of the elevated section and will test the remaining section in the first or second quarter of next year. At the beginning of the third quarter, the train will run test on the whole route. After that, the investor will exploit it, ie let the train run with full staff and operate as if it were real. The ship will be put into use after the State Acceptance Council approves.
Metro No. 1 is nearly 20 km long, from Ben Thanh station (District 1) to Long Binh Depot, with three underground stations and 11 elevated stations. This is the first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND from Japanese ODA and domestic counterpart funds. The whole project is currently about 93% of the volume, expected to be completed by the end of next year.
