10/03/2026
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has submitted to the Prime Minister a plan to expand the High-Tech Park and add the function of a Science and Technology Park in Long Phuoc ward.

According to the proposal submitted to the Prime Minister, the expanded High-Tech Park covers an area of approximately 194.84 hectares, located in Long Phuoc ward (Long Phuoc island). The land is bordered to the north and west by the Tac River, to the east by the Ba Nghiem and Van canals, and to the south by the Tac River, Do canal, and Ba Nghiem canal.

This area is located near the existing High-Tech Park, approximately 1.7 km away, and is accessible via Nguyen Van Tang, Nguyen Xien, and Phuoc Thien roads (via Long Dai bridge).

In the future, the city plans to build a 40m wide road connecting D1 road in the High-Tech Park to Nguyen Xien road, linking to Ring Road 3 and the expanded area, along with a bridge over the Tac River approximately 300m long.

According to the planned layout, approximately 166.2 hectares, equivalent to 85.3% of the total area, will be allocated to a university-enterprise collaborative research and development zone, a high-tech incubation center, and a high-tech pilot production facility.

In addition, the planning area also includes complex management and service zones, exhibition areas showcasing research achievements, commercial and service areas, a system of parks, and green spaces along rivers and canals...

The total investment for the expansion project of the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park is expected to be approximately 17,400 billion VND; including 16,327 billion VND from the State budget and the remainder from mobilized capital. Of this, investment preparation costs are over 12 billion VND, land clearance costs are 12,591 billion VND; and infrastructure construction costs are approximately 4,200 billion VND...

Ho Chi Minh City will implement the project over nearly 9 years (2025-2033). The project's goal is to establish a multidisciplinary science and technology research center, promote research activities, incubate high-tech businesses, and commercialize technology.

This area is also oriented towards linking with universities in the region, especially the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, in order to develop an innovation ecosystem and enhance endogenous science and technology capacity.

The city believes that expanding the High-Tech Park is necessary to overcome the spatial limitations of the existing area, while also creating momentum for the development of the high-interaction, innovative urban area in the East.

In the submission, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed that the Prime Minister authorize the city to implement the investment and construction of infrastructure in the expanded area in accordance with regulations on public investment after the project is approved.

After more than 20 years of development, the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park has now completed its infrastructure on an area of 913 hectares, with an occupancy rate of approximately 64.05% of the planned land for multi-sector high-tech activities; attracting and licensing 161 investment projects, including many large technology corporations from various countries.
