The installation of the rail section is expected to be completed by MAUR in early 2022, helping to connect the entire rail system of the metro line from Ben Thanh to the Long Binh depot (Thu Duc City), The total length is about 20 km.

Metro No. 1 underground section is about 2.6 km long, with 3 stations located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City including Ba Son station, City Theater and Ben Thanh. Currently, the two stations of the Opera House and Ba Son have completed the construction of items such as the lobby, ticket machines, automatic toll gates...

Particularly, Ben Thanh station is expected to be completed by the end of this year. This is the central station of Metro No. 1, in the future connecting lines No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong), 3A (Ben Thanh - Tan Kien), No. 4 (Thanh Xuan - Hiep Phuoc urban area). Previously, from February last year, Metro No. 1 operated the entire route from Ben Thanh to Thu Duc City. This event marked the transition from the construction phase of the structure to the installation of the rail, electromechanical, and signaling systems; completing and connecting the stations with other types of public transport... In October 2020, the first train of the project was imported to Ho Chi Minh City, so far 6 more trains have been brought back and are in progress. Prepare for the test run.

As the first urban railway project in Ho Chi Minh City, Metro No. 1 has a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND. In addition to the three underground stations mentioned above, the project also has 14 elevated stations. Currently, the entire metro line has reached about 88% of the volume, but it is difficult to reach the target of completion by the end of this year as planned due to the impact of Covid-19.
