Proposing 1,000 billion VND for the intersection of Ben Luc Expressway with National Highway 51
Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) proposed 1,000 billion VND to build the intersection of Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway with National Highway 51, to synchronously operate Long Thanh airport.
The proposal has just been submitted by VEC (the investor of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project) to the State Capital Management Committee at enterprises to soon invest in the intersection, in the context of the expected Long Thanh (Dong Nai) airport completed in 2025, attracting huge travel demand.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is more than 57 km long, the first point at the intersection of the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressways and the Ring 3; end point of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection. In the first phase, this expressway has an end point at National Highway 51, designed at a level intersection because at this time the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway has not been built. After that, the intersection has an overpass, helping the Ben Luc - Long Thanh route to cross and connect to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau highway when it has been deployed.
VEC proposed that it is necessary to invest in completing the above intersection right in phase one, to increase connectivity when Long Thanh airport is put into the waterfall in the next three years. The proposed business items include building an overpass across National Highway 51 and two branch roads from this highway connecting to the intersection of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway to Long Thanh airport.
In the total capital to build the intersection, VEC proposes to self-balance from the sources of enterprises to deploy. This unit is expected that after the investment policy is approved, from now until the end of next year, it will complete the design, contractor selection, site clearance... The construction will be completed in the middle of next year. 2025.
Started construction in 2014, Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway with a total capital of more than 31,000 billion VND. This is the largest expressway in the South, originally scheduled to open at the end of 2018, then postponed to 2020 and most recently to the end of 2023. According to VEC, the main obstacles related to funding have been basically solved so far resolved, but restarting the project encountered many difficulties. Currently, the investor proposes to extend the project completion time to the third quarter of 2025.
