CMC said its $250 million data center is designed with an initial capacity of 30 MW, expandable to 120 MW. On July 13, CMC announced that the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) has approved the group to invest in the CMC Hyperscale DC Data Center project in the eastern part of the city, with a total capital of $250 million.
The project is positioned as the core infrastructure for CMC's digital transformation and AI transformation strategy, while serving the goal of expanding to the global market, and is one of the key digital infrastructure projects in Ho Chi Minh City.

The data center is expected to start construction in 2026, designed to meet the large computing needs for artificial intelligence development and the digital economy, providing AI-as-a-Service, cloud, big data and cybersecurity for millions of users. The center uses renewable energy solutions, oriented towards green standards from the design stage.
According to CMC, Hyperscale DC SHTP is a preparation step for them to attract large technology companies and global AI enterprises to Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of CMC, said: "We do not consider Hyperscale Data Center SHTP as a simple data center, but as an infrastructure foundation for Ho Chi Minh City to develop into a Digital Hub of the region".
In June, CMC started construction of the Innovation Space Complex in Hanoi, which the Prime Minister expected to become a "technology valley" where engineers and scientists gather.
According to data from the Ministry of Science and Technology, by March, the total capacity of data centers in Vietnam reached 182 MW, while the target by 2030 is 870 MW. Currently, the country has only one super-large-scale data center (ie 20 MW or more) with a capacity of 30 MW in operation.
