Ho Chi Minh City promotes supply chain connectivity
14/07/2025
Many support programs are being implemented by Ho Chi Minh City to promote the strengths of industrial production - one of the development pillars of the new city.

On July 4, the conference space connecting supporting industry suppliers in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City recorded the active participation of many domestic manufacturing enterprises. About 300 direct 1-1 connections between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign direct investment (FDI) corporations and large industrial enterprises were scheduled in advance, clearly demonstrating the cooperation expectations of both sides.
Confidently joining the supply chain
According to observations, from early morning, many domestic supporting industry enterprises were present at the connection area of the conference Searching for supporting industry suppliers. Enterprises carefully prepared their business profiles, product catalogs, etc. to introduce to potential buyers. Among these, many enterprises such as CNS Amura, Viet San, Bach Tong... have experience in manufacturing for large manufacturing corporations, so they are very confident when approaching and seeking new opportunities.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuyen, Deputy Director of Thinh Phat Mechanical Co., Ltd. (specializing in manufacturing mechanical components), said that the company has made efforts to invest in machinery and equipment to increase productivity and reduce costs to meet the strict standards of foreign customers. In addition, the company has stepped up its search for new customers from international exhibitions and trade fairs, promotion programs in Ho Chi Minh City... "We have to meet and exchange directly to understand the needs of the market and customers. In 2024, we will develop 3 more Japanese customers, they have high demands on quality, require continuous improvement, but once a contract is signed, they will stick with it for a long time" - Mr. Tuyen said.
CNS Amura Company, a precision mechanical engineering company that has participated in the supply chain of Samsung and many other large manufacturers, expressed its desire to continue expanding connections and is ready to participate more deeply in the global supply chain.
Mr. Nguyen Vinh Loc, Director of Daviteq Technology Joint Stock Company, operating in the semiconductor industry, is looking for suppliers of electronic components, mechanical components, plastic injection, circuit boards, etc., said that this is the second time the company has participated in a conference to find suppliers with the goal of finding suitable partners to increase the localization rate. "Vietnam's supporting industry is developing strongly but still lacks a deep enough connection platform between suppliers and buyers. We need support mechanisms so that Vietnamese supporting industry suppliers can approach the right partners and vice versa" - Mr. Vinh Loc expressed.
Expanding support space
Ms. Le Nguyen Duy Oanh, Deputy Director of the Supporting Industry Development Center (under the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City), said that the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City identified industry as one of the pillars in the new development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City after merging Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
According to Ms. Oanh, right in this conference to find supporting industry suppliers, the organizing committee has expanded the scale of connection to enterprises in Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, where many factories of FDI enterprises and large industrial enterprises are operating. This is one of the key activities, aiming to connect domestic enterprises with the global production chain, especially in industries with high added value such as semiconductor industry, mechanical engineering, aviation, healthcare and electronics. Ms. Oanh said that more and more foreign end-user manufacturers are shifting their investment to Vietnam or expanding their investment in Vietnam, with the need to increase the localization rate. If in the past, these manufacturers only focused on supply capacity, product quality, production costs, etc., now, the issue of social responsibility is also an important criterion that supporting industry enterprises need to meet. "A typical example is ITO Company, a Japanese enterprise specializing in manufacturing equipment for the electronics industry, which has very high requirements for social responsibility of suppliers, not only in terms of quality, price but also in terms of employee benefits. This enterprise has a strategy to expand its network of strategic partners and supply chains in Vietnam, further increasing the localization rate in production compared to the current 80%" - Ms. Duy Oanh cited.
The representative of the Department of Industry and Trade added that Ho Chi Minh City will promote the connection of supporting industry enterprises participating in supplying high value-added industries: mechanical engineering, machinery and equipment manufacturing, semiconductor industry, medical industry, transportation industry... To promote the strong development of Ho Chi Minh City's supporting industry, in line with its potential, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade also cooperated with Samsung to implement a project to support Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises to transform to a smart factory model. This program has been implemented by Samsung in Korea and Thailand, helping small businesses improve their production lines, reduce costs and increase productivity.

Not stopping there, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade is also preparing to organize a training course for Vietnamese businesses on the roadmap to join the global supply chain, from technical standards, production management to social and environmental requirements... In the context of restructuring the global supply chain and shifting investment, these activities will be a platform for Vietnamese supporting industries to access capital flows and international orders.
